Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Famine Prep, operated by Urban Root ("we," "our"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Report generation inputs: When you use our tool, you provide information such as your country, region, household size (adults, children, and pets), budget, dietary restrictions, skills, and other details. This information is used solely to generate your personalized report.

Local storage data: Your form inputs, license key, and preferences are kept in your browser's local storage on your device, so that your form is pre-filled on return visits and you do not have to re-enter your key. We do not copy that store to our servers. Your form inputs and your license key are sent to our server at two moments only: when you generate a report, and when you validate a key. We do not keep either after answering the request. You can clear the local store at any time through your browser settings.

Payment information: When you purchase a paid report, your payment is processed by LemonSqueezy (our merchant of record). We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card details, bank information, or other financial data. LemonSqueezy also generates and emails your license key. Analytics: We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymized visitor data such as page views, referral sources, country of origin, browser type, and device type. This data is anonymized, does not use cookies, and cannot identify individual users.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Report inputs: Your inputs are posted to our own server, which sends them to the Anthropic Claude API and returns the report to your browser. While writing a paid report the model may run up to three web searches through Anthropic to check local prices and availability; the search queries are derived from your inputs. Nothing is stored by us after the request is answered.
• Dietary selections: Halal and Kosher describe a religious practice, and Vegan, Gluten-free and Lactose-free can describe a health condition. Under the GDPR those are special categories of personal data. We ask for them only because a food plan that ignores them is useless to you, we process them solely to write the report you requested (Article 9(2)(a), your explicit consent given by choosing them and pressing generate), and we do not store them.
• Pet information: If you include pets (dogs, cats, or other animals), this information is sent to the AI solely to generate pet-specific preparation recommendations. It is not stored or used for any other purpose.
• License key validation: When you enter a license key, it is sent to LemonSqueezy's API to verify its validity. We do not store license keys on our servers. The key is stored only in your browser's local storage on your device.
• Analytics data: Used to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve the experience.
• Email (if provided): Only used for order receipts, license key delivery, and confirmations via LemonSqueezy. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data is shared only with:

• Anthropic (Claude API): Your report inputs are sent to generate your report. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs for training.
• LemonSqueezy: Processes your payment and delivers your license key. See LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel: Hosts the website and collects anonymized analytics. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

Famine Prep does not use tracking cookies. Vercel Web Analytics is cookie-free and identifies visitors using an anonymized hash that resets daily.

We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save:

• Your form inputs (country, household, budget, pets, etc.) so they are pre-filled on return visits
• Your license key so you do not need to re-enter it each visit

The local store itself stays on your device. The values in it travel only as described above: your inputs when you generate a report, your license key when it is validated. You can clear the store at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

6. Data Retention

We do not store your report inputs, your generated reports, or your license keys on our servers. Reports are written by the Anthropic Claude API through our server and returned to your browser in the same request; nothing about them is written to a database or a log. Once you close or leave the page, the report exists only as a downloaded file (if you chose to download it) and, for the free preview, in your browser's local storage.

7. Report Downloads

The download itself is built entirely in your browser as a self-contained HTML file, and you can save it as a PDF using your browser's print function. The file is created on your device and saved to your device: it is never uploaded anywhere. The report text inside it was produced earlier, by the Anthropic Claude API through our server, as described in section 3.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Request information about what data we hold about you
• Request deletion of any data we hold about you
• Clear all locally stored data by clearing your browser's site data for famineprep.com
• Opt out of analytics tracking by using a browser ad blocker

Since we do not permanently store personal data on our servers, there is typically nothing to delete on our end. For any data-related requests, contact us at urbanroot.contact@gmail.com.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. The "children" inputs in our tool refer to household members for report calculation purposes only.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
